10/12/2018

Anticipated work for the next two weeks on Sixth Avenue includes storm sewer completion, road base building, and all curb drives and sidewalk.

Anticipated work schedule for the next two weeks on Fifth Avenue includes completing the storm sewer, road base building, begin prep for curb, sidewalk and drives.

10/1/2018

Construction is progressing very quickly.  All of the water main and water services have been completed on 6th Avenue.  The storm sewer and road base should be completed by the end of this week on 6th Avenue with concrete curb, sidewalk replacement and driveway approaches scheduled for later this week.  All water main on 5th Avenue as well as the majority of the water services are complete with the remaining to be finished this week.  Storm sewer on 5th Avenue is a quarter complete and will continue to progress according to schedule.

It is anticipated that the base course of asphalt on 5th and 6th Avenue will be placed by the end of October with substantial completion by November 8.

9/8/2018

On Monday September 10th, from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m, the Village will be shutting off water to complete two major water main tie ins and numerous valve replacements. Known areas affected are: 2nd Street from Washington Blvd to 4th Avenue; 5th Avenue from Jordan Lake Street to Tupper Lake Street; and 6th Avenue from 2nd Street to Tupper Lake Street. If water flows cannot effectively be controlled, additional valves in the area may have to be closed which will limit water to additional services.

Tupper Lake Street traffic will be detoured on Tuesday evening, September 11, in preparation for a live water main tie in at Tupper Lake Street and 5th Avenue on Wednesday, September 12. Traffic will be detoured until work is completed. Barring unforeseen circumstances, water should remain on during this time frame.

9/4/2018

Water will be shut down on 6th Avenue from 2nd Street to Tupper Lake Street on Thursday, September 6 from 10:00am until approximately 2:00pm (or sooner).

8/30/18

Construction is progressing as planned with the water main and storm sewer replacement started on 6th Avenue. On Tuesday, September 4, crews will be milling asphalt on all of 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue.  Additional underground crews will begin water main and storm sewer work on the north end of Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue from Jordan Lake Street and progressing north.  Please do not park vehicles on 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue during the construction process.

On Thursday, September 6, water services on 5th Avenue will be turned off for new water main tie-in from 10:00am until approximately 2:00pm (or sooner).

8/21/18

Sixth Avenue water will be turned off for new water main tie-in on Wednesday, August 22 from approximately 10:00am to approximately 5:00pm (or sooner).  After water is restored, please flush your line for about 5 minutes or until the water runs clear to eliminate minerals from the water. If you have any questions, please call the village office at 616-374-8062.  Thanks again for your understanding and patience!

8/15/18

Contractors will begin to mobilize equipment Monday, August 20 on Sixth Avenue.  Half of the asphalt surface will be removed on 6th Avenue from Jordan Lake Street to Second Street. Please do not park on the street on Sixth Avenue between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm until further notice.  Curb, gutter and driveway approaches will be removed next week.

7/31/18

The 5th and 6th Avenue Project is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, August 6.  The contractor will have multiple crews onsite and construction will start at the south end of 6th Avenue near M-50 and will quickly move north.  Thank you for your patience and understanding with the noise, dust, schedule changes and other inconveniences that come with construction!

6/26/18

The 5th and 6th Avenue Reconstruction Project meeting discussed the details of the project with underground water main being replaced as well and curb and gutters.  There will be periods where access to your driveway will be limited and you will experience water service interruptions.  We will make every effort to communicate those times with you as best we can, but please understand that during construction, there are can be unanticipated occurrences that may unexpectedly impact your water at times.

The anticipated schedule will start with breaking ground on July 30th, on Sixth Avenue with base course paving in September.  Fifth Avenue will follow with construction starting in early September, and base course paving by October 31.  There are a number of factors that influence construction timelines so the village will work closely with the engineers and contractors to provide updates on this web page for your convenience.
