Janie Rodriguez Award

Each year the Village of Lake Odessa presents an award to an outstanding citizen and community volunteer, entitled the “Janie Rodriguez Award.”  This will be the Village’s 23rd year in presenting this coveted award.

The winner of the award will be chosen from the Lake Odessa Area.  The winner will have been nominated by an individual or group who submits a brief personal profile using the given criteria below which also includes an explanation why the individual deserves this award.

Criteria for selecting a winner is based on the way Janie lived her life, and values she placed upon faith, family, friends, and community.  The nominee should be a caring, giving, loving, community-minded person who often places others needs before their own.  The winner of this award is a person who goes above and beyond the call of duty in the spirit of giving, in the spirit of Janie Rodriguez.

This award will be presented to the new winner during Depot Day, July 28, 2012.  The winner will receive a plaque as a keepsake, and have their name engraved in a permanent plaque which is displayed in the Page Memorial Building.  The winner will also serve on the Janie Rodriguez Committee to take part in the selection process of future award winners.

Nomination applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2012, at the Page Memorial Building, 839 Fourth Avenue, Lake Odessa, Michigan 48849.
