Janie Rodriguez AwardEach year the Village of Lake Odessa presents an award to an outstanding citizen and community volunteer, entitled the “Janie Rodriguez Award.” The winner of the award will be from the Lake Odessa Area. The winner will have been nominated by an individual or group who/which submitted a brief personal profile using the Committee's criteria and an explanation why the individual is deserving of the award. Application information is available at the Page Building at 839 Fourth Avenue, Lake Odessa.
Criteria for selecting a winner is based on the way Janie lived her life and values she placed in church, family, friends, and community. The nominee or applicant should be a caring, giving, loving, community-minded individual who often places her or his own needs last, in order to help someone else. The winner of this award is a person who goes above and beyond the call of duty in the sprit of giving, in the spirit of Janie Rodriguez. The award recipient will receive a plaque as a keepsake, commemorating this honor. His or her name will be engraved on a permanent plaque which will hang in the Page Memorial Building. The winner will also serve on the Janie Rodriguez Committee to take part in the selection process of future award winners. This honor will take place at the Depot Days celebration in 2011. | Award Recipients2010 - Marian Durkee
