The ordinances of the Village of Lake Odessa are designed to protect and promote the public health, safety, morals, comfort, convenience and general welfare of the people. Parking From November 1 to April 1, parking is prohibited on any Village street between the hours of 2:00am and 6:00am.
Animal Control
It is against Village code to allow dogs to run at large. No person owning or having possession or control of any dog shall intentionally, or through failure to exercise due care, permit such dog to defecate on any public or private property, other than property of such person, unless such person immediately collects and properly disposes of all such fecal matter.
Zoning Permits
A zoning permit application must be approved prior to all construction and home improvement projects regardless of whether the work is completed by the homeowner or a contractor. Construction projects include but are not limited to: additions, demolitions, fences, swimming pools, garages, sheds, signs, etc. Zoning permit applications can be obtained from the Village office, Monday through Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm by visiting our zoning page here.
Open Burning
It is unlawful to burn leaves, refuse, garbage or similar materials in the Village.
Weeds
The Village Code states that residents' grass or weeds not exceed a maximum height of 12 inches. It is the responsibility of the resident to keep their yard free of debris, garbage and other materials.
