                                                            Planning Commission

                                                            The Planning Commission consists of seven members appointed by the village President, subject to approval by a majority vote of the members of the Village Council.   According to village ordinance, two members of the Planning Commission must be the Village Manager, and the Village President or another member of the village council designated by him/her.  One member of the Planning Commission is also required by law to serve on the Village’s Zoning Board of Appeals.  Planning Commission membership shall be representative of the major interests as they exist in the village, and, to the extent practicable, the entire geography of the village. 

                                                            The Planning Commission is in charge of advising the Village Council on amendments to the zoning ordinance or the zoning map, as well as for reviewing and approving proposed site plans, special use permits, and planned unit developments.  The Planning Commission monitors the zoning ordinance to ensure that community development is consistent with the village’s Master Plan.
